Initially conceived as a necessity, it became a dream. To the credit of fourteen strong men with conviction, the dream became a reality and was christened with the name LAMBDA THETA PHI LATIN FRATERNITY, INCORPORATED. The first Latin fraternal organization for men at a college/university level founded in the United States, December 1, 1975 marked the birth of the brotherhood.

LAMBDA THETA PHI is a fraternity comprised of men who have been blessed with a cultural composition unequaled and unparalleled. The mixture of our African, Indigenous, and Spanish ancestors has enriches us. From soul-filled rhythms, to magnificent architectural temples, to the rich language which adorns our lips, we are cultural rainbow. Lambdas are committed to preserving this legacy as evidenced by our past.

As Latinos within the United States, we are in pursuit of the American dream. Our mission? The uplifting and empowerment of our people. LAMBDA THETA PHI brothers have been the voice of nuestra gente as we demand justice and equality. Not as gifts but as earned inalienable rights. We have paid our dues. We have contributed to the greatness of this nation. From making the ultimate sacrifice in the service of our country to embarking on every facet of human endeavor for the benefit of humanity, LAMBDA THETA PHI represents the inherent excellence of Latino manhood. Lambdas are determined to continue the tradition as confirmed by our history.

Our fraternity was created by men of vision with a genuine sense of purpose; our ideals clearly defined: to promote the spirit of brotherhood; to secure and protect the rights of Latinos; to preserve our vast culture; to excel in the world of academia; to foster harmony and cooperation among the diverse Latino ethnic groups- En La Union Esta La Fuerza; to develop character, to practice chivalry; to serve mankind. Lambdas are devoted to these principles as a way of life: “LAMBDA THETA PHI -TILL THE DAY I DIE.”
