PAST NONPROFIT COMMUNITY
INITIATIVES
Arizona Nonprofit Capacity Building Initiative
The Arizona Nonprofit Capacity Building Initiative was formed in
September 2001 to explore the need for and value of an umbrella,
statewide nonprofit capacity-building organization. The initiative,
comprised of representatives from nonprofits, foundations, and government,
completed a feasibility study that included four major components:
A profile of the nonprofit sector in Arizona
An assessment of the capacity-building needs of Arizona's nonprofits
An inventory of existing capacity-building resources
An inventory of "best practices" and lessons learned from
other states.
The Center was part of the executive and steering committee leadership
throughout the process and provided vital research and nonprofit
sector data.
The following reports, including the final report, were produced
by the Arizona Nonprofit Capacity Building Initiative. To view or
download a report, select the report title. You will need Adobe
Acrobat Reader.
*NOTE:
The reported estimate of the number of nonprofits in Arizona, included
in the Final Report and attributed to Arizona Nonprofits: Scope
of the Sector in Brief, is incorrect. This Final Report, therefore,
is archived on this site for historical purposes only. For the correct
estimates, please see the Arizona
Nonprofits: Scope of the Sector in Brief, published by the
Lodestar Center.
The Arizona Nonprofit Capacity Building Initiative was featured
in the January 10, 2003 edition of the Phoenix Business Journal:
Groups
unite to give Valley nonprofits better exposure (Phoenix
Business Journal, January 10, 2003)
