The largest grantmaker in grant dollars given in 2011 is Valley of the Sun United Way, which is a public foundation. Virginia Piper Trust is the largest private foundation in grants given in Arizona and in 2011 it ranked 7th in grants given.
From the corporate foundations, PetSmart Charities tops the list with $26.2 million in grants paid in 2011, followed by Freeport-McMoran Copper & Gold Foundation with $11.9 million.
