Message from Dean Wheeler

Dear Participants,

It is with great pleasure and approval that I welcome the participants to the fourth annual Rocky Mountain European Studies Consortium. To understand the origins of diversity in Europe is to a very great extent to understand ourselves and to view humanity through the amazing microcosm of the European nations. Your broad interdisciplinary scope epitomizes much of what we are striving to achieve in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, to reach across traditional boundaries in the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences to understand our world in new and deeper ways. It is impossible to comprehend the contemporary world without a firm grasp of the diversity that is Europe and of its rich and complex origins. I wish you an exciting and productive meeting and hope that you enjoy ASU and our community during your visit.
