Mid-low front rounded vowel [œ]

This vowel appears only in closed syllables. In these words, the consonant most frequently used to close the syllable is [r]. When you pronounce these words, make sure that you articulate the vowel and the consonant clearly. Be careful not to pronounce an English syllabic [r] in place of the vowel.
