What is Anemia?

Why Anemia?

Anemia is a fairly common condition, but many people know little about it. Anemia can potentially affect anyone, but the risk level and risk factors often vary between ethnicity and genders. Medically defined anemia has been linked to severe cardiovascular disease and birth defects, but is often undetected. This page focus on risks and effects of anemia, in the hope of educating the general public of:

  • potential health complications of anemia

  • risk factors of different types of anemia

  • basic advice on prevention

Additionally useful links to major medical sources are provided with helpful information on dietary concerns and when to consult a medical authority.
