New Chair for UNUG

Highlights:

Lee Rogers resigned as UNUG chair.  Matthew Musgrave was nominated as the new chair and the attending membership gave their approval.
UNUG meeting time is changing. By majority-rule vote, the UNUG will now meet on 4th Tuesday of every month at 2:00 pm. Meetings will still be held in the Computing Commons Auditorium, CC-120, with the exception of our March meeting
The attending membership also voted on the charter and it will be sent to UNCEL for their approval.
Network Catalyst and Nokia, gave a demonstration of one of their firewall appliances. The firewall units are based on BSD, and managed with a VPN interface from a Windows NT system. Their appliance runs the Check Point Firewall Software, which also runs on Solaris, Linux and Windows Platforms.

Issues to address, action items:

We still need a co-chair. Please submit nominations and/or volunteer. Since it is part of our charter, we need to have it taken care of before we can send our charter to UNCEL.
To Matt's knowledge the University does not have a site-license for Check Point, but if he is wrong, please let him know.
Also please let Matt know if those of you who attended found this informative and would like to see presentation like this in the future. Network Ice Inc. has expressed an interest in giving a presentation of their firewall product, (BLACK ICE) and may possibility be looking for BETA testers for their LINUX version.
SECURITY ALERT:   rpc. If anyone needs Redhat RPM patches, ftp://enlnxs.eas.asu.edu/pub/Linux/distributions/redhat/updates

Next meeting

Vote on Co-Chair (if not already done).
Revise Charter (if necessary).
Review best practices.
