Scanning my notebooks in search of materials for these pieces I was drawn less to the descriptive or my life's events than to the settings of the -- then intense (or tentative) conditions to which the sensory detritus vividly adhered. As I deleted from the notes I began to be intrigued by the way letters pulsate from fields of sense impressions, forming phrases and/or speech. I let this become an alternation -- a shared dialogue -- between myself, the writing subject, and remembered personas producing a layered grid composed both of memory and interpolation.
