Belon has written a very early book on the pine family and one of the first botany books to cover a single genus.
He gives descriptions of the various species, including their locations, and cites authorities such as Dioscorides. The work contains illustrations of Cedrus major, Picæ arboris figura, Pinus, Icon Pinastri, Laricis figura, Sapini arboris delineatio, Abies fœmina, and Cupressus.
