This is the first volume of a two volume work; the second volume is PAT-109. These include most of Clusius's original works in botany as well as scholarly translations of classic botanical works. Clusius worked closely with both L'Obel and Dodoens, corresponding regularly and sharing information. In fact, while there are separate volumes under their individual names, it is difficult to know what to attribute to whom. This volume contains very detailed descriptions of the plants, as well as a number of illustrations. Printed margin notes help guide the reader. At the end there is a section of letters honoring Clusius. This is followed by not only a listing but also descriptions and illustrations of the plants from Baldo Mountain, Italy. There are three indexes, one in Greek, one in Latin, and one for the European languages.
Subjects: Botany--Pre-Linnean works; Fungi, Pannonia; Botany--Italy.
