Internet users have high expectations for secure e-commerce and reliable business documentation of transactions. Few information and record keeping systems meet those expectations. Top North American experts in electronic integrity and Internet law will explain why and offer practical solutions at ECURE 2002.
C. W. Goldsmith, CIO for the University of Texas, will review requirements and compliance strategies for HIPAA, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. David Sobel, general counsel for the Electronic Privacy Information Center, will explain recent changes in Internet privacy law and pending privacy initiatives. Clifford Lynch, executive director of the Coalition for Networked Information, will describe Internet infrastructure and applications developments and their implications for scholarly communication and academic e-commerce.
Other conference speakers will focus on the technology that supports business transactions and on the development and assessment of record keeping systems. John Phillips of Information Technology Decisions will show how to build evaluation criteria into electronic records management programs. Nancy McGovern will review efforts to develop a preservation risk management program for preservation of Web resources at Cornell University’s Project Prism.
ECURE 2002 is the only North American interdisciplinary conference that specializes in electronic record keeping issues for institutions of higher education. In its fourth consecutive year, ECURE brings together experts from a range of professional communities to share and compare strategies for leveraging digital assets of academe. ECURE features compelling presentations and small group discussions for unparalleled access to practical advice.
