My Roles
The My Roles feature allows you to personalize the content outline to show only those topics that apply to your job role. You have the ability to easily switch back and forth between your personalized view and the full content view. The My Roles link and My Roles button only appear in the Outline pane if you are viewing content in which roles were assigned by the content author.
When you enable role-based filtering, you make a selection from a pre-defined list of roles. Then, only those topics to which the selected role is assigned appear in the Outline pane. You can toggle to redisplay the entire table of contents by clicking the My Roles button. In addition, you can remove the filter from individual roles or disable the feature entirely.
Clicking the My Roles button when role-based filtering is enabled switches the display of the content in the Outline pane. However, if role-based filtering is disabled, clicking this button opens the My Roles dialog box. When role-based filtering is disabled, a checkmark appears on the face of the My Roles button when you move the mouse pointer over the button. You can use the button to open the My Roles dialog box.
The My Roles dialog box contains settings that allow you to choose roles and control display options. These settings are described below:

Show topics for all roles |
Indicates that all content should be shown, regardless of the roles to which it applies. Selecting this option after role-based filtering is applied toggles the display of the table of contents in the Outline pane without disabling the filtering feature. |
Show topics for selected roles |
Indicates that only content for the selected role(s) should be shown. This option is automatically selected when you choose a role from the My Roles section of the My Roles dialog box. |
Roles |
Allows you to select the role or roles for which you want to see content. To select a role, click the checkbox to the left of the desired role. |
