Preferences

The Preferences window allows you to set options that affect how the Player functions. If the Preferences link does not appear in the Player window, your administrator has preset all preferences and has prevented them from being changed.

 

The Player options are described below. You can restore the default settings in the Preferences window by clicking Defaults and then clicking OK to confirm the action.

 

Option

Description

Marquee Color

You can set the color for the marquee (or highlight) that appears in See It!, Try It! and Do It! modes. The default marquee color is red.

Enable skipping in Try It!

When this option is selected, you can advance in Try It! mode by pressing the Enter key.

Play audio (if available)

You can choose the All available sound option, which is the default, to play sound files during playback, if sound is available. You can select the Keyboard and mouse clicks option to play those sounds only. If desired, you can disable the sound files by choosing the No sound option.

Show Introduction in

This option allows you to control where the Introduction text appears.

Table of Contents: The Introduction text will appear in the Introduction pane of the Player window only, not as the first step of a topic during playback.

Both Table of Contents and Player: The Introduction text will appear in both the Player window and the first step of a topic.

Key combination for advancing in Do It! (Manual Advance)

This option allows you to advance in Do It! (Manual Advance) by pressing a combination of the CTRL, SHIFT, and ALT keys.

 

1.       Start the Player.

2.       Click the Preferences link.

3.       Set the Player options.

4.       Click OK.
