INFANT MORTALITY IN LATINOS

Skip Navigation

Conclusion

¡°We have significant resources as a community- that is, a basic infrastructure in the community-based and professional organizations¡± (Marilyn).

Health care professionals and Latino mothers can both commit themselves to reduce the number of infant deaths among Latinos. The collaboration of health care providers with the community¡¯s efforts (Latina mothers) will provide hope for a brighter future when it comes to infant mortality. With the health care providers addressing issues like discrimination, minimal access to health care and responding to the people¡¯s expectations while gaining support and receiving cooperation from the Latino community, infant mortality rates will greatly diminish. Until something is done, infant mortality will continue to exist and even increase among Latinos.
