3D Laser Scanning
To prepare for 3D laser scanning, I first sprayed my cell phone with the anti-fungal spray, covering up the black and reflective areas. I then used the 3D laser scanning software to scan two copies of the phone, one with the case holding the bottom and another with the base holding the middle. The geometry with just those two scans was enough, so then the cell phone point cloud was imported into Geomagic and repaired. There were several holes, created from bad scanning angles, thumb prints, and lack of sufficient spray. These were easily fixed, as a fill all holes function did just that almost perfectly. The phone was made manifold and ready for any future modifications.
