ASU Center for Nonprofit Leadership and Management releases 2007 Compensation and Benefits Report The ASU Center for Nonprofit Leadership and Management has released its 2007 Nonprofit Compensation and Benefits Report for Maricopa County and Pima County nonprofit organizations. The 99-page report contains compensation data for 8,375 nonprofit employees across 82 different nonprofit positions, findings on employee retirement, insurance, paid time-off, and detailed salary and demographic information on executive directors. Alliance Releases Arizona Nonprofit Agenda The Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits released this week One Voice Arizona: A Nonprofit Agenda. This report compiles the vision, challenges and strategies to advance the nonprofit sector, as expressed by more than 275 participants in the Alliance’s series of Town Halls on the Nonprofit Sector throughout 2006. Volunteer Center of Southern Arizona Announces Free Summer Capacity-Building Staff Development With the announcement of its new summer training schedule, the Volunteer Center of Southern Arizona is providing the opportunity for staff members of nonprofits to take advantage of free networking and staff development workshops. The training is available thanks to a United Way grant to build the capacity of organizations that serve youth. The funds are designated to help nonprofit agencies strengthen their use of volunteers in their programs for youth, and to help youth to give back to the community as volunteers. The training is focused on youth serving agencies, but other nonprofits are also eligible to participate at no cost on a space available basis. The training includes topics on how to manage, recruit and retain quality volunteers, basic nonprofit board responsibilities, grant writing, youth leadership, and nonprofit financial management. Educators, nonprofit administrators, volunteer managers, students, and nonprofit and faith-based professionals are invited to participate in these workshops. United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona Requests Proposals for $30,000 Boomer and Retiree Project United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona has released a new Request for Proposals for a $30,000 project that addresses the baby boomers and active retirees in the Pima County community: Transforming Retirement - Extended Life Options. The proposal must be submitted online through the United Way Web site and is due July 6 at 5 p.m. Awards will be announced on or about September 4. Eligible applicants include grassroots associations; individuals; public or private institutions of higher education; for profit companies or small businesses; nonprofit agencies; faith-based, community and tribal organizations. A Pre-proposal workshop that describes the on-line RFP process will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 15 in the 2nd floor Board Room at United Way, 330 North Commerce Park Loop, Tucson, AZ for the purpose of clarifying requirements and answering respondent questions. YWCA Appoints Leon Silver to Board of Directors Shareholder and business trial lawyer, Leon Silver, of Shughart Thomson & Kilroy, P.C., is the second man to join the YWCA of Maricopa County Board of Directors during its 95 years of service to the Valley. This year the YWCA board opened its doors to men as the organization shifts its focus from providing services to enhancing advocacy efforts, empowering women and eliminating discrimination. Phoenix City Councilman Greg Stanton was the first male to join the board last month. Stanton and Silver previously practiced together in The Silver Law Firm. In addition to his work with the YWCA, Silver is a current trustee and a former chairman of the board of directors for Planned Parenthood of Arizona. He also serves as a judge pro tempore of the Maricopa County Superior Court, and he is a member of the Community Advisory Counsel for “Advocacy for the Arts,” a nonprofit legal advisory organization for artists and authors and a founder and community attorney advisor to the Liberty Project, a think-tank made up a law students, young lawyers and other professionals. |
