NPower Arizona's technology training classes are designed to
address the specific technology needs of nonprofits in the Phoenix
area. Courses are offered at a variety of locations and cover key

Collaborating to Increase the Impact of
Volunteerism June 29 & 30
The Volunteer Center of Maricopa County's Annual "Creating a
Thriving Community" Conference. This year's conference will focus on
collaborating - what it is, how you do it successfully and how to
handle the problems that arise during a collaboration. It is an
opportunity for nonprofit organizations, public sector
organizations, faith-based organizations and corporations to come
together to build relationships and learn skills to enhance their
ability to work to increase the impact of volunteerism.
There will be three tracks of workshops - volunteer management,
corporate volunteerism and professional development - interspersed
with workshops, panel discussions and keynote speeches on
collaboration. Workshop topics include: stages of collaboration;
organization culture (i.e., corporate, nonprofit, public and
faith-based); volunteer recognition; project management;
facilitative leadership; fund development for volunteer programs;
balancing work and life; collaborating with the media; and involving
corporate employees on nonprofit Boards of Directors.

AFP Luncheon - "The New United Way: Focusing on
Results that Matter" July 7
Featured speaker: Paul Luna, President, Valley of the Sun United
Way. There are exciting and powerful changes happening at Valley of
the Sun United Way. After a year of thoughtful dialogue with nearly
1,500 representatives throughout the Valley including community
leaders, partner and non-partner agencies, issue experts, investors,
potential investors and other funders, Valley of the Sun United Way
has launched its new focus: Results that Matter: Investing in
Learning, Empowering and Caring. Valley of the Sun United Way
President, Paul Luna, will share United Way's evolution from an
organization being recognized as just a fundraiser and fund
distributor, to one with a broader focus on community impact.
Results that Matter provides the framework for how Valley of the Sun
United Way will direct its financial, intellectual and human
resources to strategically address the issues that matter most in
our community.

Institute of Cultural Affairs - "Youth as
Facilitative Leaders" August 3 & 4
The Institute of Cultural Affairs (ICA) will be holding two
trainings open to youth and adults who work with youth on August
3-4. Youth as Facilitative Leaders is a two-day training that
teaches young adults to lead effective conversations, lead groups to
consensus and create a simple and organized action plan to give
structure to any event. The training costs $200 per participant or
$1,000 for a group of seven participants. The training will be held
