Big Brothers Big Sisters CEO Announces Retirement
Linda Searfoss, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona
has announced her retirement after 31 years of selfless and inspired
dedication to our Valley children. Thirty-one years ago this November,
Searfoss was hired as the Executive Director of Valley Big Sisters.
At that time, she was the first and only full-time employee and
had one part-time case manager with a budget of $11,000. The agency
was serving 30 Little Sisters. In January of 1986, Valley Big Sisters
merged with Valley Big Brothers and Searfoss was chosen as the Executive
Director of the newly formed Valley Big Brothers Big Sisters (now
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona- BBBS).
Throughout the years, Searfoss has directed the agency’s
phenomenal growth and nationally recognized service delivery programs.
She leads and inspires a staff of more than 50 and is recognized
for starting and maintaining a for-profit Clothing Donation Center
which helps provide approximately one-quarter of the agency’s
budget. Currently, BBBS is one of the largest Big Brother Big Sister
affiliates in the country, with over 1,700 children matched with
a Big Brother or Big Sister. “Linda will be truly missed by
all of us that have been lucky enough to work with her,” said
Laura Capello, Vice President of Marketing, “She has made
