Penny Borszich
President ( 1 year term)

UCW Ideas/Interests:

I have been the Communications Coordinator for UCW for the last two years, and have learned much about the history of this organization, as well as what our current members are looking for in a women’s organization. I see this organization entering into a new era (as well as the rest of the world) of more collaboration, more involvement, and more activism. I am looking forward to the possibilities of change this organization can bring about, not only at ASU, but for Arizona, and even the world at large. As the UCW president I will be looking to form more coalitions with other organizations within ASU and throughout Arizona, to help improve the lives of all women. I believe the key to growth for any area is through education and training, so for UCW, I will be looking for opportunities of education and training to provide to UCW members, to bring more satisfaction, vitality and energy to their lives.

Skills/Talents:

I have been a classified staff for Arizona State University in the University Technology Office (formerly IT) since 1998. My position has entailed many activities, including designing brochures, posters, and Web sites, as well as organizing the student orientation for our department. I have developed many skills from these endeavors, including project planning, task management, and content organization. I have attended many training seminars at ASU including Stepping into Leadership, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, and Supervisory Academy. I have also been one of the co-chairs for the ASU Museums, Galleries and Collections Committee for the last two years, and have been a committee member since 2000.

Tami McKenzie
President Elect (2 year term: 2nd year as President)

UCW Ideas/Interests:

To get more involvement and ideas out of the membership. To “brand” UCW as an organization that women can be affiliated with that provides positive direction and growth too many aspects of our members’ lives. I would also like to establish/implement benefits to our membership (i.e. discounts or perks with area businesses).

Skills/Talents:

I have six years of experience with UCW, including serving as a Director at Large, and numerous committees and event team work. I am a current Classified Staff Council member (since 2003) and have served as CSC Treasurer for one year and the fundraising chair for two years. My biggest talent is for getting donations/gifts in kind fulfilled.

Carolyn Landry
Recorder (1 year term)

UCW Ideas/Interests:

I believe that UCW is a great resource for the woman on campus offering numerous opportunities for professional and personal growth, networking, and socializing. I have benefited greatly by being a member of UCW, making new friends and learning new skills. Before UCW I didn’t know anyone outside the law school, now I know people all across the campus.

Skills/Talents:

The same organization, communication and computer skills that enable me to do my job well will serve me in this position on the UCW Board.

Kimberly Fuqua
Communications Coordinator (1 year term)

UCW Ideas/Interests:

Since becoming a member of UCW, I have met so many wonderful people! I am excited to share my experiences with my new friends and being the communications coordinator will facilitate just that! I am eager to get the website updated and integrate so many of the wonderful ideas that I have received.

Skills/Talents:

I have learned so much in the short time I’ve been on campus! Thanks to the Learning and Performance Solutions Group and Employee Assistance office, I have been able to increase my knowledge of ASU. Surviving life has given me the knowledge and skills to become a resource for UCW. I am driven, goal and team oriented, versed in numerous applications. Thank you for the opportunity to help administer this organization!

DeDe Grogan
Finance Coordinator (2 year term)

UCW Ideas/Interests:

I joined UCW two years ago in hopes of expanding my skills and knowledge here at ASU. I am interested in providing support to UCW as well as increasing UCW’s appearance on campus. I am not sure where UCW should be in the future but I believe this organization is very important to the empowerment of women in higher education and I look forward to being a part of that mission. I have truly enjoyed and look forward to the continuation of the “Adopt an ASU Family” program that I have lead the last two years. The program has grown from assisting two families in the first year to six families in the second year. With more support and word of mouth, I strive to increase the support of more families each and every year. I have also enjoyed the support drive I lead two years ago for the Sojourner’s Center.

Skills/Talents:

I am detailed oriented and have worked with many departments throughout my years here at ASU, offering a variety of skills and knowledge. Currently, I have been asked to offer my assistance to the Memorial Union Administrative Office on their billings and I last year I was asked to lend support to other MU departments on budgeting, reconciling and billing issues. I am an ASU graduate with a major in English, in which I graduated with honors in May 2003.
