COLLEGE OF EDUCATION INITIAL TEACHER CERTIFICATION (ITC) ELIGIBILITY FOR APPLICATION ADMISSION CRITERIA |
| Students are eligible for consideration for admission to the ITC (Initial Teacher Certification) program if they meet the following criteria: |
| 1. Admission to ASU as a classified student. For students planning to begin the ITC program in the Spring semester, University admission materials should be submitted by May. For students planning to begin the ITC program in the Fall semester, application materials should be submitted to University admissions by October. |
| 2. ITC Admission is separate from general admission to ASU. For students planning to begin ITC in the Spring semester, application materials should be submitted to the College of Education by September 1st. For students planning to begin ITC in the Fall semester, application materials should be submitted to the College of Education by February 1st. |
| 3. A cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher. Transfer grade point averages are taken into consideration. |
| 4. Completion of at least 56 semester hours by the time the student plans on beginning the ITC program. |
| 5.Completion of ENG101 and 102, Mathematical Studies [MA] requirement, and Literacy [L] or Natural Science [SQ or SG] requirement with a grade of "C" or better (courses in progress do not satisfy this requirement). These courses must be completed at the time the student submits ITC application materials. |
| 6. Demonstrated experience working with the population you plan to teach. |
