DRAWING FROM HISTORY:
Permanent Collection and Loans

Drawing from History: Permanent Collection and Loans presents 20 works by contemporary artists who are influenced by and quote from art history. The exhibition focuses on work in the ASU Art Museum’s collection, including new acquisitions and loans from local collections. The exhibition also includes historic works that provide inspiration and reveal sources.

Renegade Clay:
Five Views from the West

This exhibition uncovers the work of five artists from western states who are defining a new generation of clay workers: Rebekah Bogard, Neveda; Shay Church, California; Max Lehman, New Mexico; Thomas Muller, California; and Christina West, Montana.

2006-2007 Exhibition

The bi-annual show offers students and the public an opportunity to see the respected talents of the ASU Herberger College School of Art faculty. This year’s exhibition features works by more than 35 art faculty members in media as diverse as painting, photography, drawing, sculpture, inter-media, fiber and ceramics, as well as research by art history and art education professors.

Alien Images:
UFOs, Photography and Belief

The ASU Museum of Anthropology is proud to present the exhibit, Alien Images: UFOs, Photography and Belief, opening March 8, 2007. Through a series of large photographic prints, projections, movies and books, the exhibit will explore the 137 year history of photographic images purported to show Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) and the rich variety of interpretations used to explain them.

A history of art, family and friends

Stéphane Janssen has collected art for nearly 60 years. At the age of 16, he bought his first work: a painting by Spanish artist Oscar Dominguez. It was the beginning of many friendships and a monumental collection. After World War II, Janssen amassed one of the outstanding CoBrA collections in the world.

30 Years of Latina/o Publishing by the Bilingual Review Press

The ASU Libraries are pleased to showcase a broad selection of books published by and artwork commissioned by the internationally renowned Bilingual Review Press (BRP). The exhibit coincides with ASU Libraries’ hosting of the 2007 Transborder Library Forum/FORO Transfronterizo de Bibliotecas from February 20-24, 2007 on the Tempe campus.

Gardening with Oscar Oiwa

This exhibition of Oscar Oiwa’s paintings, the first in a U.S. art museum, is another installment in the ASU Art Museum’s expanded initiatives for exhibiting and interpreting Latin-American art. Oiwa, a Brazilian artist of Japanese heritage, studied in Japan and the United Kingdom. He currently lives in New York.

Sri Lankan Palm Leaf Manuscript and Monographic Collections at ASU Libraries

Hayden Library

The Exhibits Committee in coordination with Archives and Special Collections is pleased to announce a Hayden Library exhibit in two parts divided between the new exhibit space on the Lower Concourse and the Luhrs Gallery & Reading Room on the fourth floor. Designed to showcase as well as contextualize a recent gift of over one hundred palm leaf manuscripts from Sri Lanka, “Guarding the Flame: Sri Lankan Palm Leaf Manuscript and Monographic Collections at ASU Libraries” runs from August 21 – October 13, 2006.

It's A Dry Heat:
Biological Adapations for Life in the Arizona Desert

The exhibit is a collaborative effort between the School of Life Sciences (SoLS), the Natural History Collections in SoLS, and ASU Libraries and includes some materials from the Arizona Game and Fish Department. Get to know Arizona's native living creatures and learn how they survive in the harsh desert climate.
