Book Pull Service

The University Libraries on the Tempe Campus offer a free book pull service for students and faculty. Up to five items per day from most collections in the Tempe Campus libraries will be pulled for students. Tempe Campus faculty have no limit on the number of requests made to the pull service. Requested items can be held for you at any of the following libraries: Hayden, Noble Science, Music, or Architecture.

  • Tempe Campus Faculty may also refer to the Library Express http://www.asu.edu/lib/ill/DocDeliveryHelp.html service for their requests. Library Express is a more comprehensive service that pulls and delivers on campus for faculty. Students and staff may also use Library Express for a fee.

  • Placing a hold does not prevent another patron from retrieving the item and checking it out.

  • Community Borrowers do not qualify for this service.

  • Law students do not qualify for this service and should refer to the Ross Blakley Law Library http://www.law.asu.edu/Library for further information.

  • Excluded collections: journals, non-circulating material, media material (e.g. videos), and reserve items.

  • The book you request will be pulled from the shelf and taken to the Circulation Desk of the Library you selected.

  • You will be notified when the item is ready for pick-up.

Time Required/Schedule of Pulls

  • The service is available Monday through Friday.

  • Most Tempe Campus requests are filled by the end of the following business day.

  • Weekends, holidays, and delivery to a library on campus other than the library that contains the item may delay your request. A delay should not exceed one business day.

  • Requests are processed two times per day. The first pull is done between 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. The second pull is done in the evening.

Canceled Requests

Requests may be canceled by library staff for a variety of reasons: the item is missing from the shelf, the item can not be checked out, or you have exceeded your five item limit.
