Office of Human Resources - Professional Development

Policies

Enrollment Eligibility

Eligibility for classes, workshops, and general online services offered through the Learning and Performance Solutions Group of the Office of Human Resources is based on several factors. Below is the official policy, followed by related resources.

  • Effective January 1, 2003 employees are eligible to register for workshops and seminars through the Learning and Performance Solutions Group after an ASU ID number is assigned by Human Resources (Payroll) and entered into HRIS.
  • Human Resources Payroll can be reached at 480.965.2701 for ASU ID# verification.

Exceptions to this policy are listed below. These exceptions allow new employees or non-ASU employees to register for a limited number of offerings.

  • New Employee Orientation: To register for New Employee Orientation please see the following page for more information: http://www.asu.edu/hr/new_employee.html.
  • Information sessions for prospective ASU employees wishing to learn about the ASU application process. See the following page for more information: http://www.asu.edu/hr/jobs/faq_about_jobs.html.
  • ASU Foundation employees, ASU Volunteers, and others who are not and will not be paid through the ASU Human Resources payroll system.

Cancellation Policy

Don't be a No-Show! Because most of the learning opportunities have waiting lists, please cancel as soon as you know you will be unable to attend. Even a last minute cancellation is better than a no-show. (All cancellations within 24 hours of class start time must be made by telephone.) We can often get someone in from the waitlist on very short notice.

Privacy Policy

The Learning and Performance Solutions Group creates and maintains a training transcript for each employee who enrolls in any of the offered courses. The training transcript may be accessed only by the individual employee and the systems administrator. The training transcript is intended to serve as an aid in helping employees keep track of courses taken and in identifying future training opportunities. Supervisors will not be provided with access to an individual employee's training transcript, absent an employee's written consent. However, if an employee is given release time to attend a training course, HR can confirm to a supervisor the fact that the employee attended or did not attend a training session on a given date and time. Additionally, if an employee is reporting completed training to a supervisor in an annual self-evaluation or other personnel related matter, HR can confirm to the supervisor the fact that the employee did or did not complete each of the training courses listed.

For additional information on exactly what supervisors are eligible to review, please see SPP 1101.
