Hugh Downs School of Human Communication

Kendra is a second-year doctoral student in the Hugh Downs School of Human Communication. She earned her B. A. in Speech Communication at Baker University and her M. A. in Communications here at Arizona State. Kendra studies interpersonal and family communication across the lifespan, including sexual communication among yound people, family interaction around the division of domestic labor, and communication about illness and death. She teaches a broad range of courses at ASU, including those in interpersonal communication, creativity and communication, and event planning.

Kendra has worked for many years as an event planner in university, corporate, and non-profit sectors. Most recently she served as the Convention Coordinator for the 80th annual convention of the Western States Communication Association.

Kendra grew up outside of Lawrence, Kansas. She is an avid KU basketball fan, but also enjoys crossword puzzles, swimming, and anything that's steamed and served with drawn butter.
