call for events and news!
As we get ready to begin another academic year, I'm looking for events, announcements and other news tidbits to publish in this newsletter. As a reminder, two editions of SILC This Week are published each week: the first, "internal" edition goes out on Mondays to all SILC faculty, staff and graduate students; a second, "external" version is published on Tuesdays to the larger ASU community that includes all humanities and social science academic units, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences deans and administration, and other SILC stakeholders.
If you have an event or announcement to be included in the newsletter, you must submit it to the SILC Web and Communications Administrator no later than noon, Fridays, for inclusion in the following Monday's distribution. Information received after that deadline will be posted on the SILC website (as are all announcements from the newsletter) and held for the next edition.
Past editions of the newsletter are available on the SILC website, at http://silc.asu.edu/newsletters.

Andrew Ross appointed Editor of IALLT Language Learning Center Management Manual
The International Association for Language Learning Technology (IALLT) has appointed SILC's Director of Learning Support Services, Andrew Ross, as Editor of the third edition of the IALLT Language Learning Center Management Manual. The IALLT provides leadership in the development, integration, evaluation and management of instructional technology for the teaching and learning of language, literature and culture, and the Management Manual is one of the organization's key publications. Ross has headed SILC's Learning Support Services for the past year. Prior to that he was the director of the Language Resource Center, and associate director for emerging instructional technologies, at Brown University. He received his Ph.D. in French from the University of California, Berkeley. Congratulations, Andrew, on this well-deserved appointment!
