Sun Devil Send-Off series ensures happy beginnings for new ASU students
The ASU Alumni Association will host Sun Devil Send Offs at many locations around the country for incoming freshmen this summer. Hosted by local ASU alumni families, the events help ensure a successful beginning to a student’s lifelong ASU experience, provide opportunities to meet other students and families from the area, and get last-minute questions answered.

Come picnic in the park with Western PA alums
The Western Pennsylvania/Northern Appalachian alumni group invites all area Sun Devils to an ASU/Pac-10 Alumni Picnic at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 14, at North Park in Pittsburgh. We will raffle a football autographed by Mike Haynes and have a festive luncheon; the park also has hiking trails, a swimming pool, bike trails, wildlife ponds, and many other facilities to enjoy. Twin Cities chapter dives into summer fun
The Twin Cities Chapter will be celebrating a wonderful start to summer with a Lake Minnetonka boat cruise on June 19. Chapter members will enjoy food, drinks and socializing on one of Minnesota’s most famous lakes.

Jim Lehrer and Robert MacNeil, the PBS news anchor tandem who epitomized the best of thought-provoking and in-depth broadcast journalism, will be this year’s recipients of the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism. Cronkite and the school that bears his name – the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at ASU – will honor Lehrer and MacNeil at a Phoenix ceremony on Nov. 21.
