The ASU Alumni Association will host Sun Devil Send Offs at many locations around the country for incoming freshmen this summer. Hosted by local ASU alumni families, the events help ensure a successful beginning to a student’s lifelong ASU experience.

Chicago, LA Devils batter up for baseball outings
What would summer be without America’s pastime? The Los Angeles alumni chapter will host ASU Night at Dodger Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 2, as the Dodgers take on the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Chicago Sun Devils will practice their seventh-inning stretch on Saturday, Aug. 9, when the White Sox take on the Boston Red Sox at US Cellular Field. |

DC grads build political capital
The National Capital (Washington, D.C.) alumni chapter and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences will host a free “ASU in Washington” reception July 24, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the One Washington Circle Hotel.
U.S. Congressman Harry Mitchell and Alan Artibise, executive dean of the college, will speak at the event, which celebrates the 10-year anniversary of the ASU Capital Scholars undergraduate internship program.

Sun Devil teams finish fourth in U.S. Sports Academy Director's Cup
On the strength of three national championships and eight total Top 10 national finishes this year, the Arizona State University athletics department has finished fourth in the 2007-08 U.S. Sports Academy Director's Cup standings, released by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics June 26.

Two Sun Devil track athletes score Olympic team berths
Four-time NCAA heptathlon champion Jacquelyn Johnson and former All-American long-jumper Trevell Quinley will both be competing in Beijing in the 2008 Summer Olympic Games, after competing in the U.S. Olympic Trials for track and field.
