1. Relive memories from your ASU glory days, plus find out what the university has been up to since you left, by purchasing a copy of our coffee-table book “Arizona State University: Visions of a New American University.”

2. Celebrate ASU’s past, as well as discover which Sun Devils are helping invent the future, by attending the university’s Founders’ Day celebration on March 3.


3. Support your fellow Sun Devils and expand your social network by attending networking event hosted by our Women in Business program or the Maroon & Gold Professional Network.


4. Help support tomorrow’s scholars today! Purchase a Sparky plate and $17 of your $25 fee will go to scholarship programs operated by the Alumni Association.

End the month on a high note with opera tickets to “Puccini Double Bill”
Finally, a members-only offer that’s music to your ears! The ASU Alumni Association is offering two free tickets per dues-paying member for the Lyric Opera’s production of Puccini’s one-act operas “Suor Angelica” and “Gianni Schicchi” February 27-28 and March 1 at the Evelyn Smith Music Theatre in ASU’s Tempe campus.

Founders’ Day event showcases Challenges Project at ASU
The ASU Alumni Association’s 2009 Founders’ Day event on March 3 will mix a night honoring the founders of ASU’s predecessor institution in 1885 with a dinner and awards ceremony that will showcase Sun Devils involved in solving the challenges that will shape the world’s future.

Sun Devil Generations kids get VIP access to “Suessical, the Musical”
Participants in Sun Devil Generations, the Alumni Association’s program for children and grandchildren of alumni ages birth through 8th grade, are invited to an exclusive performance of “Suessical, the Musical” at 4 p.m., Saturday, March 7, presented by Valley Youth Theatre, performing at The Herberger Theater Center 222 E. Monroe, Phoenix.

For every adult ticket purchased, one child will be admitted free! That’s a savings of $29 – $39 per child!

Mix it up at Feb. 18 and March 11 Maroon & Gold Mixers
The ASU Alumni Association’s new Maroon & Gold Professionals Network is a group for ASU graduates in the working world. The group will hold networking events from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at ASU Karsten Golf Course, 1125 E. Rio Salado Parkway, Tempe, and from 5:30 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 11, at Old Main on ASU’s Tempe campus.
The cost for each event is $10 for members of the ASU Alumni Association and $20 for future members.

Women in Business hosts “do what you love, love what you do” breakfast Feb. 26
Recharge your career-related enthusiasm at the Alumni Association’s Feb. 26 Women in Business breakfast, which will feature four Sun Devil alumnae who have risen in the professional world and made an impact as industry leaders.

The panel will include former Arizona Secretary of State Betsy Bayless, entrepreneur Michelle Kort of As You Wish Pottery, Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center co-founder Denise D. Resnik and award-winning local broadcaster Mary Kay Titla.

Women’s networking continues at LaBocca on March 18
If you enjoy the breakfast roundtable on Feb. 26, you’ll want to attend the next Women in Business wine and networking event, 5:30-7 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, at La Bocca Pizzeria, 699 S. Mill Ave., Tempe.

The event is free for members of the ASU Alumni Association and $10 for future members.

History professor wins Glendale MLK award
Matthew Whitaker, associate professor of history in ASU’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, recently received the Promoting Inclusiveness Award presented by the city of Glendale at its Jan. 16 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Day Luncheon.

Snyder to receive Altieri Lifetime Achievement Coaching Award
Bruce Snyder, who coached Arizona State University football for nine seasons (1992-2000), is the 2009 recipient of the Pete Altieri “Lifetime Achievement” Coaching Award, presented annually by the Valley of the Sun Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame.
