Sparky’s Touchdown Tailgate series promises 3 weekends of away-game fun

The Arizona State University Alumni Association will host lively, fun-packed rallies before three away games as part of its 2009 Sparky’s Touchdown Tailgate series.

The association will partner with its alumni chapters and sponsor StubHub to host pre-game tailgate parties before the Sept. 26 ASU-Georgia game in Athens, Ga.; before the Oct. 24 ASU-Stanford game in San Francisco, Calif.; and before the Nov. 21 ASU-UCLA game in Pasadena, Calif.

Alissa Pierson, associate executive director for programs at the Alumni Association, said this season’s football tailgates would capitalize on the popularity of previous away-game tailgates and strong turn-outs by local chapter members to make the events one part of a full weekend of fun activities for Sun Devil fans.

“Host cities for Sparky’s Touchdown Tailgates this year have active alumni chapters whose members will contribute to the events being energizing, spirit-lifting experiences,” Pierson said. “ASU fans coming from anywhere in the United States can visit these tailgates and feel right at home with other enthusiastic Sun Devils.”
All three tailgates will feature great food, special guest speakers, and appearances by Sparky, the ASU Spirit Squad and the university’s marching band. The events are open to all Sun Devil fans; dues-paying ASU Alumni Association members receive discounted pricing on tickets to the events.
