SAA members wear their pride, get free stuff
For Arizona State University undergraduates, getting rewarded can be as simple as getting dressed. ASU’s Student Alumni Association (SAA) will be offering prize giveaways this school year to members who quite literally wear their SAA pride on their sleeve.
SAA, a student group sponsored by the Arizona State University Alumni Association, promotes a connection between current students and ASU alumni and educates students about the traditions of the university. Beginning Sept. 4, on the first Friday of each month members of the SAA leadership team will ride around the university’s Tempe campus in an electric-powered cart giving away prizes to members who are wearing the SAA T-shirt they received when they joined the organization. Recipients of the giveaway will be rewarded with ASU gear, gift cards and other prizes, and will also be recognized in the SAA newsletter.
Greg Mena, program manager for the ASU Alumni Association and staff supervisor for SAA, explained that the Friday giveaway program aimed to increase the visibility and “buzz” around the student group, which has seen a sharp rise in membership over the past two years.
“We decided to implement the T-shirt day giveaways to start a fun new tradition connected with SAA,” he said. “The shirt is cool-looking, and we’re hoping our ‘prize patrol’ raises awareness of the group and boosts its esprit de corps.”
Only dues-paying members of SAA will be eligible for the Friday giveaways. All current undergraduate students at ASU are welcome to join the group; annual dues are $25 per year. For more information, visit www.asu.edu/saa, call (480) 965-2586 or e-mail Greg.Mena@asu.edu.
