NOTES FROM THE ASUAA PRESIDENT
Welcome to the Fall semester and a new football season as well.  I have been excited to see so many chapters already announcing game watching parties and starting their “Pennies for Points” in scholarship fundraising.  The events are really catching on and we hope the team can help us out by scoring a lot of points!  And for those of you heading to Georgia, definitely reserve Friday evening for a gathering at Lola, operated by David Abes an ASU alum, followed by a Sparky’s Touchdown Tailgate in Athens and the game to Bash the Bulldogs.  If you still need to purchase game and tailgate tickets, let the staff know.

Quick note on the beginning of school—check out the video of Welcome Week at the Downtown campus and especially a glimpse of the 1500 plus freshmen whitewashing the “A!”  Hope some of you have good memories of that as well.

All the best as always,

Football season is here and we are ready for Sparky’s Touchdown Tailgate.  We look forward to seeing the majority of you at the games and especially at Sparky’s Touchdown Tailgates!  Get your tickets now for:
University of Georgia – September 26  (Yes, we have game and tailgate package)
                                Stanford University – October 24
                                UCLA – November 21

Finally, be sure to register for the Fall Chapter Leadership Forum, October 29-31 during Homecoming.  The registration deadline is quickly approaching and our goal is to have 100% participation from all of the Chapters.  Please register by SEPTEMBER 30th.  It will be educational, productive, fun and “A Devilish Homecoming!”

LOOKING FOR SOMETHING? CHECK THE ONLINE TOOLKIT!
The Online Toolkit is a great resource for commonly used forms & procedures for a variety of alumni chapter activities. Important forms such as the Check/Reimbursement Request form & the Post-Event Program Report have been updated for FY10. Please be sure to use these new forms when preparing for and finishing up your events.
Some other great highlights from the Online Toolkit include:
*Summary of notes from the August 18th CAC Call
*Request form for an Online Registration Page
*Sample Event Sign-in Sheet

DEVIL OF AN IDEA
We’re excited to announce a new feature to the Online Toolkit called “Devil of an Idea.” This new page will be used to post Program Reports from successful chapter events. This will be an excellent way for chapters to share success stories and lessons-learned from commonly planned events across the Alumni Constituent Network. If you’ve had a great event and you’d like to share the steps for ‘how-to’ with your fellow alumni leaders, just complete the Post-Event Program Report and submit by e-mail to Trish Thiele-Keating and we’ll post the information for other groups to view on the “Devil of an Idea” web page.

AUGUST 18TH CAC CALL RECAP
Thank you to all the alumni leaders who participated on the August 18th CAC Call. During the call we announced information about the Fall Forum in October, new strategies for alumni group e-communications and shared great ideas amongst alumni leaders. Please be sure to review the Summary of notes from the August 18th CAC Call to remain informed of all the recent updates & procedures within ASUAA.

*As a reminder, Chapter/Club/Connection e-newsletters will no longer be automatically sent to all ASU Alumni Leaders. If you would like to remain on the list to receive other chapter’s e-mail updates, please e-mail Trish Thiele-Keating.

*Also, in an effort to more efficiently deliver announcements about ASU Football Game Watching gatherings, please send your e-mail content for your upcoming Game Watchings to Trish Thiele-Keating  by Monday of the week of the game. Even if you are only making a simple announcement about a time & place to meet to watch the game, please provide full sentences and a subject line. Keep in mind that each e-mail you send might be the first time an alum in your area is learning about your events – you want to put forth your best Sun Devil impression each time.
Mark your calendar – the next CAC Call will take place on Monday, January 25th, 2010 at 6:00pm AZ time.

If you would like an updated alumni roster for your group, please contact Trish Thiele-Keating. Please allow 3-5 days for the roster to be compiled.

LRO CAMERA TAKES FIRST LOOK AT APOLLO 12 LANDING SITE
By Nikki Staab
Just over a month ago, the imaging system on board NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) had its first of many opportunities to photograph five of the six Apollo landing sites. The LROC (short for Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera) team recently had the chance to target the remaining landing site.  The Apollo 12 landing site was well worth the wait. The Surveyor 3 spacecraft, Lunar Module descent stage and Apollo Lunar Surface Experiment Package (ALSEP), along with astronaut tracks, are all visible. Click here for full story.
