What kind of recruiting do you do for your company?
I recruit for outside sales people, at job fairs, mixers and pretty much anything else that I have time for.

Who is your company's ideal recruiting candidate?
The ideal candidate for the New Times is someone that is disciplined, courageous, competitive and has a great work ethic.  They need to be able to think on their feet, be a self-starter and like to have fun and make money.

What strengths do Arizona State University graduates bring to the hiring table as job candidates?
From my experience, ASU graduates bring confidence and intelligence to the table.  The people I have hired from ASU are still working here and they have the best work ethic.  Also, three of the four managers here are (Sun Devil) alumni, so ASU did something right!

What can current students or alumni do to improve their chances of finding work with (or through) your company?
They can e-mail me their resume and tell me why they want to sell advertising for the New Times.

What advice would you give to current students or job-seekers about finding work in your field?
Stick with it.  Hunting for a job is a full-time job.  You should interview with as many people as possible.  It will help your interviewing skills but most importantly, it will open your eyes to all the possibilities that are out there.  It will also let you know what types of jobs—good or bad—are available.

Also, keep your resume to one page; you don't have to go into great detail on why you should be hired.  Save that for the interview.
